Mary’s Cupboard Community Food Program
A Note from Marion Slack, Coordinator, Mary’s Cupboard

We are always in awe of the charity that exists in our congregation. As the need increases so does the food we receive. Jesus said, “Feed my lambs, tend my sheep.” I believe He was not only speaking of spiritual need but physically as well; how could it be otherwise? We are all human and need to be nourished body and soul.

In view of the times we are living in, this letter wishes to thank you for the support we have received this past year. The chaos being created by the high rate of unemployment results in the phone ringing off the hook with requests for help.

As you know, our charity is for everyone who is hungry or in need of food for their families, regardless of their religious denomination or who they are. “I was hungry and you gave me to eat” are not just idle words - they were spoken by our Savior.

Here is a breakdown of statistics for 2008. It shows how we, the laity, by taking part in the food collection, have helped people weather their difficulties.
God Bless all, the givers as well as the receivers.
